The Life You Can Save

Hello All!
Although we had time off this past week to enjoy our Spring Break, we still worked to increase our knowledge on effective philanthropy by reading the book, The Life You Can Save, by Peter Singer. The main argument challenges readers to invest more of their income as well as their time to support reputable nonprofit organizations. This influential book made us think about how we give our time, talents, and treasure to worthy causes. We discussed in depth how we may change our philanthropic practices in order to be more informed and more committed donors in the future! We encourage you to check out this book and let us know how you feel!

  1. I love to assign this book - it argues that we have a moral obligation to support causes that save lives in developing countries. Like Unicef, Save the Children, and Doctors Without Borders. We can save a few cents every day on things we don't need, and give them to a group that can provide clean water or medicine in another country. Not too hard to do! But we Americans aren't very aware of these other ways to do good overseas.
